What do you remember most about a hotel getaway? Is it the view? The service and amenities? The continental breakfast? Personally, I’m a sucker for a cozy bed, fluffy pillows, and a “vibe” I can’t seem to shake.
Joe and I decided that, for our five year wedding anniversary, we wanted to stay somewhere overnight. It’s difficult to do getaways when you have two kids and not a ton of help, but, luckily for us, my mother in law was available to stay over that night.
As soon as we walked into the lobby of The Time, we were stunned by the artsy, whimsical decor. I had never seen a hotel quite like it before: large, glitter paintings of Hollywood icons, modern light fixtures, exposed pipes and beams… every room had a style of its own and details to point out. We spent a good chunk of the first day walking and looking around the space. The black + white wallpaper on the upper levels was so unique!
For dinner, we only had two take the elevator down to the lobby. We had a lovely, intimate evening at BV’s Grill, from the French rosé and tuna avocado tartare to the bone-in steak, asparagus, and blue cheese mashed potatoes we shared. We sat by the large glass windows and watched as it drizzled + thunder-stormed outside. The coziest feeling!
In our room, we had a cute little balcony with two cozy armchairs and that’s where we spent the rest of our evening. The view was gorgeous at night and we couldn’t keep our eyes off the new Tappan Zee bridge, lit up in all of its glory, sparkling over the Hudson River. We listened to music, reminiscing about the past ten years. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend our anniversary!
The next day, bright and early, we headed down for a light breakfast. After two cups of coffee and some eggs, we went upstairs, changed into our bathing suits, and headed back down to the pool lounge area. Such a relaxing spot, complete with reclining chairs and couches. Bonus: they even offer pool service!
All I kept thinking during our stay was that The Time Nyack is the perfect spot for couples and parents who are in need of a little break or getaway. We were only 30 minutes from home and felt like were much further away. It gave us the break we needed, without making us nervous that if something happened at home, we were hours away. We were able to fully relax, and that’s not something we often do!
So thank you, The Time Nyack, for being so good to us. We will forever cherish our stay at your gorgeous hotel!
