Hi Mamas! Please forgive my absence… It’s been a crazy week. Between unpacking and planning for Liam’s western birthday party on Sunday, I basically did not stop for one second since we came back from Saint Martin.
How cute is our little guy?!
I can’t get over the fact that he’s one now… no longer an infant! (What? We have ourselves a toddler now?) I feel like such a cliché each time I start babbling things like, “I remember when he was this small” or “It feels like yesterday that I was in the delivery room…”, but it’s true! Time truly does fly and if you don’t enjoy each precious moment with your babies (yes, even those night feeds!), you will end up missing them… A lot.
Yes, I held back tears the entire day on Sunday. Not just because my baby is now basically a man, but because a year ago exactly was the hardest, wildest, happiest, most beautiful day of my life. I was giving birth to my baby boy. It’s his birthday, yes, but also a day that marks a huge milestone in my life.
I’m so glad the party was as successful as I was hoping it would be. I’m known to have some crazy “visions” at times (including some Pinterest fails), and my husband tends to laugh at some of my far-fetched ideas, but this time, it all worked out perfectly.
We set everything up in our yard and invited only our closest friends and family. Intimate, casual, positive energy all around… a perfect day to celebrate our little cowboy!
These mason jar beverage dispensers worked great for lemonade and iced tea! I made the Taco Bar sign with cardboard & a sharpie (proud to say no stencils were used!) and bought this metal-trim ribbon to make the cute little bow.
This idea was so fun! Twizzlers as “Lassos”, Oreos as “Tractor Wheels”, and Pretzel Sticks as “Hay”. Our Make-Your-Own Taco Bar consisted of: ground beef, rotisserie chicken, corn, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, fried jalapeños, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, refried beans, and shredded cheese.
We also had cranberry & pecan chicken salad sandwiches, potato salad, baked ziti, grape & cheddar bites, mini tacos, and pigs in a blanket. Lots and lots of food!
Our utensils: Pitchforks, Shovels & Machetes
Love these denim/bandana print plates from Amy’s Party Store!
Tablecloths are from Amazon and the centerpieces from Target. For the cowboy hats in the background, I simply used clothespins and twine and the result looked great!
This was another fun craft I made for the party! A “Wanted” Sign, along with a bunch of photo props on skewer sticks (bandanas, mustaches, sheriff stars, cow print bow ties, etc…) All you need is cardboard, a black sharpie, and some ribbon for the trim (which you can glue or staple!) Just print out the props on thick photo stock, break skewer sticks in half, and tape them on!
How cute are these favors? Because really, who doesn’t love s’mores?
Our dog Pepper loves a good party! How amazing is this cowboy costume?
I couldn’t resist when I found it on Tirain’s Amazon shop.
Obsessed with this cowboy photoshoot!

My little girl is almost one. I can’t believe it. I miss who she was so much it hurts, but I would never trade who she is now. It’s amazing.
Your party was beautiful and creative! Lovely.

I agree – it’s so bittersweet! You miss your tiny baby, but love that your baby has a personality of his own. Some days I look at him and can’t believe how big he’s become 😭 thanks for your kind words! We had a blast.
